Undian Champions League 2012-2013 telah dilakukan yang mana Manchester City di latih oleh Roberto Mancini berada didalam kumpulan maut yang mana mereka akan bertemu dengan Real Madrid dilatih oleh Jose Mourinho yang merupakan Juara sembilan kali Champions League. Selain itu juara liga German, Borussia Dortmund dan juara Liga Belanda, Ajax Amsterdam diletakkan bersama didalam Group E. Chelsea, Manchester United dan Barcelona berada didalam kumpulan selesa dan dijangka mudah untuk melepasi peringkat kumpulan.
